It’s winter, it’s Montana, and it’s wild! Big Sky Country’s own exciting and unique Extreme Sport is here, with the most money, the largest field of competitors and for spectators, the biggest party on snow!

Modern skijoring combines Whitefish’s signature ski racing heritage with Big Sky Country’s cowboy roots into a wild, fast-paced and entertaining spectator event.

Whitefish’s World Skijoring Championships is (another) excuse to get outside in mid-winter in Whitefish, socialize and enjoy the Great Northern Brewery Beer Gardens featuring Black Star beer.

WHERE: Competition takes place on the snow-covered grounds of the Whitefish Municipal Airport.

WHEN: January 27th through 29th

• Friday, January 27th:
  • 6-9 pm, Team Registration Party @ Black Star Draught House (public welcome)

• Saturday, January 28th:
  • 11:30 am, Opening Ceremonies, featuring Whitefish Winter Carnival royalty
  • Competition starts at Noon
  • Calcutta @ Great Northern Bar & Grill, with Auctioneer Joe Warner, starts at 7 pm

• Sunday, January 29th:
  • 11:45 am, Opening Ceremonies
  • Competition starts at Noon
  • Awards Party @ Craggy Range / entertainment by John Dunnigan, starts at 5:00 pm
  • Awards ceremony starts at 7 pm

Admission is free for spectators. A nominal $5 parking fee per vehicle is charged for on-site parking, with proceeds going to the non-profit Human Therapy on Horseback and to support the Whitefish Winter Carnival.
